Last week we invited our Southern California blogger community to join us at POPSUGAR’s LA HQ for our first ever Blogger Office Hours event. The ShopSense team, along with ShopSense experts Nikki Phillippi and Jeanette Scott, set about to answer some of the blogging questions we’re asked most often!
What is ShopSense and how does it work?
To kick off the event, I did a quick walkthrough of the new ShopSense tools by building a blog post live! In just a few minutes I’d added a pre-affiliatized, pre-hyperlinked photo caption and a beautiful interactive widget to my post. The new tools are just that easy!
What do I need to do to get started in the Youtube world?
Next up, the lovely, and ultra-Youtube savvy Nikki Phillippi sat down with POPSUGAR’s Style Director Meg Cuna to talk about her journey from triple threat dancer-singer-actress to vlogger superstar. Nikki stressed the importance of authenticity and consistency in creating content. Another tip: less planning = room to create spontaneous and more timely content!
How do I create images that my readers will love to shop from?
Then, POPSUGAR’s Design Director Marisa Lenhert and POPSUGAR Visual Designer Joan Horne shared tips on how to generate product collages and take more share-worthy blog pictures. Did you know that macro images of outfit details, and not full-body pictures, are more likely to be repinned on Pinterest? More on their tips to come!
How do I grow my blog and make more money?
Finally, our Account Manager Natalie took the stage with one of ShopSense’s top bloggers, Jeanette of J’s Everyday Fashion, to chart her rise from “Facebooker” to full-fledged fashion blogger four years ago. Jeanette shared that her previous roles in marketing served her well when it came time to promote her content. She encourages bloggers big and small to establish connections with brands and fellow bloggers to cross-promote content and reach new audiences. Another way to make your blog content more discoverable? SEO, of course! Key words have been huge in helping new readers discover Jeanette’s blog.
Then, equipped with lots of blogging tips, the bloggers headed outside for a sweet treat at the Sugar Babies dessert truck. Mini cupcakes, anyone?

Come do one in Texas!!
Wish I knew about this! I’m in LA 🙁
I learned so much at this event, and loved meeting everyone! Thanks again for having me!
Agreed!
