Part I: Your Social Media Strategy For Fall

October 6, 2016 | Tips & Best Practices

With Fashion Month coming to an end and the last quarter of the year knocking at our doors, we can now fully concentrate on your Fall/Winter content strategy.
Generally speaking, Q4 (which officially starts with the beginning of October) is the most important time of the year for influencers, retailers and publishers, so it shouldn’t be surprising that a clever affiliate strategy will be crucial to increase your earnings during that busy time!

Are you ready?

When browsing Instagram, watching Snapchat stories or looking at tweets or Facebook posts, you surely find yourself lusting over a beautiful key piece another blogger wore now and then, don’t you? Well, if you do, so do your followers, who constantly search for inspiration on your accounts. And let’s be honest, we all check our social media channels for new pretty content that we can all digest quickly and approve with a like, a comment or a screenshot!

So, make the most of it and feed your followers with a well thought out social media strategy, which continuously keeps them posted with your favorite finds, personal must-have-pieces and other important wardrobe (or home, travel, beauty) updates.

Decide on what you’d like to feature and call out particularly this season and think of the different ways you can speak to your followers through Instagram and Snapchat. Variable and consistent content is key to keeping your followers engaged and curious, so think carefully of verticals you might want to feature or try out in Fall.

Adding on to this, it’s equally important to think of how you’d like to monetize this content. Whether it’s the detail shot of your oversized jumper, an outfit-shot on a Sunday, a flat lay of your favorite accessories or a “From Where I Stand”-picture featuring your favorite biker boots, it’s important to decide on what tool works best for the picture.

Emoticode can help to let your followers shop a particular item immediately from your Snapchat story or Instagram picture. We recommend using it to call out a key piece of your picture that makes it so beautiful. This way, you’ll underline the focus of a particular picture and give your followers (as well as complete strangers who might stumble upon your post) the chance to shop immediately. Don’t forget: the quicker and easier you make it for your followers to find something they like, the better for both of you!

On the other hand, there’s Looks & Collections, which helps you drive traffic back to your site by providing an Instagram-feed to rebuild. This is the perfect tool to mention throughout posts!
It helps to link to several products at the same time, in case you’d like to mention more than one particular item in your picture (Emoticode, in contrast, allows you to only link to one product at the moment). Remember: immediacy is everything and therefore, we recommend setting up a separate page on your blog (something along the lines like “Instagram Shop,” “Shop My Instagram,” etc . . .), so that your followers can visit this part of your blog immediately through Instagram.

To summarize, here’s what you need to remember for your social media strategy in Fall:
1. Be consistent but variable: plan content in advance to retain a concise publishing schedule and think of different things to put in different ways to keep your community excited
2. Don’t forget to maintain a healthy balance between monetized content and real-life/on-the-go snippets
3. Engage with your audience — ask and answer questions, share some thoughts about a picture you posted, and let them know what you’re up to.
4. Use Emoticode to focus on a particular piece on your posts and make it immediately shoppable for your followers
5. Use Looks & Collections and mention your exciting “Instagram-Shop” in your posts to drive social media traffic back to your site. Link to a variety of products and paste your Insta-Shop’s URL in your bio to make it accessible for your followers
6. Look back at what worked for you well in the past. Apps like Iconosquare can help you analyze what your audience liked.

Make sure you check out our second and third part of the Fall Strategy series over the next days!
