On September 9th, 2017 Create & Cultivate hosted its biggest conference to date on the Microsoft campus where over 1,000 women came together to be entertained, educated and inspired in a gorgeous environment, and lucky for us, we had the privilege of joining in on the fun!
The event hosted incredible speakers such as Mandy Moore, Issa Rae, Brooklyn Decker, and many more, including our very own Hilary Sloan, director of Business Development who taught us how to make money from our social channels!
We’ve been lucky enough to sponsor and take part in many of the Create & Cultivate conferences (Dallas, New York, LA, Chicago and now Seattle) and it never gets old. The Collective team flew in early Thursday evening to prep for this inspiring weekend, if you follow us on Instagram (@shopstylecollective) you may have seen us painting, building, and cheers-ing with local Seattle ladies along the way.
The day of the conference there was a multitude of panels, brands, quotes and memorable moments to take in, so we’ll leave you with our top favorite moments, and best learnings on this day!
- Meeting our loyal fans/bloggers/boss women AND new friends. This is such an incredible event and the people we met made the day so special. From Collective bloggers who came up to tell us they love the platform, to new friends who were interested in learning more. We had a blast spending quality time with you all!
- Listening and learning from panels and keynotes. We popped into a few and learned from Doree Shafrif that the best advice she would tell her 25-year-old self is that “done is better than perfect!” I couldn’t agree more, living in a perfectionist society it’s really important to remember that doing something is 100% better than never getting started in the first place. Remember, a lot of little actions make one giant impact.
- Meeting Molly from Insecure! Have you seen the hit HBO show Insecure? If you are shaking your head no, then get yourself to a TV stat! Molly, or Ivonne Orji, as she is known in real life came over to the ShopStyle lounge and made herself right at home. She was gregarious, easy-to-talk-to, and wasn’t shy about doling out the compliments to our well-dressed bloggers. Also, she never denied anyone a photo, and there were a lot of us asking for one.
- Getting our Facebook Live on! Video is the future as we heard at the conference, and for the first time, our newly created Facebook Community Group experimented with it. We interviewed Mint Arrow, The New Darlings, and Studio DIY LIVE on our page. They spilled secrets on how they built their brand, grew their IG, and what their future goals were!
