Pinterest Best Practices

March 15, 2018 | Tips & Best Practices

There’s a good reason why Pinterest is a social media favorite among brands, bloggers, and social lovers alike. Pinterest is an effective platform for growing your influence and has great revenue potential. Here are some tips to help you create a high-performing Pinterest strategy:

# 1: Save content during peak times: evenings and weekends

# 2: Use the explore tab on Pinterest to see what’s trending and apply it to your content

# 3: Use these best practices when naming your boards:

  • Make sure names are specific and relevant to your audience
  • Avoid extra spaces and special characters between letters and words
  • Don’t forget to fill in the board category, it helps people find your content

# 4: Save Pins consistently throughout the week rather than all at once to maintain a steady content flow for maximum engagement. You can utilize a scheduling tool, like Tailwind, to make this easier. Want to try it out? CLICK HERE to use our exclusive link for a month trial with Tailwind!

# 5: Add the Save button on your blog or website. It increases saves up to 5x by making it easier, faster, and more intuitive for your audience to save your content on your behalf

# 6: Turn your fashion and home Looks into Shop The Look Pins. This is an exciting new way for you to monetize on Pinterest and allows your audience to shop the products they see in your Pins.

# 7: Don’t delete any of your old boards or Pins since existing information and past engagement help Pinterest better understand your content. Rather than deleting, keep saving to those boards to utilize their influence. It’s more beneficial to continue to use a single board with a longer history, rather than create several newer boards with shorter histories.

#8: Update your profile to a business account and claim your website

#9: Save the same Pin to multiple boards with categories both broad (i.e. “My Style”) and specific (“The Best Denim Looks”) for increased exposure

#10: Turn on Showcase to feature your top five boards at the top of your Pinterest profile. Pro Tip: Include your Shop The Look board in Showcase as well!

Once the item in a custom pin is sold out on Shopstyle Collective, should you delete the pin since it is no longer available?

It’s a good idea to replace the ShopStyle link with another ShopStyle link to a similar product that is available. Having sold out product links on any of your content makes for less than desirable user experience.
