Nordstrom Sale: Our Top 5 Tool Tips

Tool Tip 1: Use LinkIt on iOS Mobile 📱

  1. Make sure to have the ShopStyle Collective App installed. (Download it here.)

  2. On Nordstrom.com, navigate to a Nordstrom Anniversary Sale product page on your device.

  3. Click the Share icon and share to the ShopStyle Collective app.

  4. Your link is created. Share away!

Tool Tip 3: Ahead of the Sale, Drop Nordstrom Cookies 🛍🍪 

✨ Insider Trick: Staring August 1st, share Nordstrom affiliate content to optimize revenue during the sale.

How does this work? 

  • Nordstrom’s cookie window is around 14 days. 

  • Example of what this means: If a shopper visits Nordstrom.com through your affiliate link on August 7th (before the sale) and then returns again during the NSale, Nordstrom.com may recognize that it’s the same shopper that was at the site previously. If so, you’ll earn commission for their trip during the sale, too!

  • Remember: the last cookie wins! If any other form of attribution overrides your cookie during their shopping trip, your link wouldn’t get commission attribution. 

  • Here’s an example of dropping cookies. This is a blog post shared on August 1st promoting Nordstrom. You can share non-NSale and NSale items. 

Tool Tip 4: Refresh Sold-Out Items

  • Use Sold Out Notification tools to replace items when they sell out. 

 

Tool Tip 5: Utilize Top Performance Metrics 

Leverage your performance data to recommend what your audience loves. Analyze:

  • AOV (Average Order Value)

  • Top performing products, channels, brands and retailers

  • Last year’s performance: July 12-August 4

  • The past 3-6 months.


Notes on Creating NSale Content 

Before Public Access begins (8/19), you may notice a couple oddities regarding NSale product information, such as:

  • Products marked as Sold Out that are actually in-stock  

  • Estimated Commissions of $0 (information available when using LinkIt)

We encourage you to post NSale content as planned–these signals do not directly indicate the estimated commission or inventory status of the products before Public Access begins. 

Accuracy regarding the above will improve around 8/19 when the Public Access Sale begins.

    I’m still pretty new to affiliate marketing and with ShopStyle Collective. Can you explain why you recommend sharing non-NSale items now instead of just sharing the link for the actual NSale item from the preview?

      Hi Sarah, that’s a great question! We recommended regular Nordstrom products as those are purchasable now, so the cookie drop could also earn commission. However, you make an excellent point that sharing NSale preview links also works. We’ll make note of this in the post. Thanks Sarah!
