Q: How do you support sustainability as an influencer?

A: I try my best to be mindful of the packages and partnerships I accept and only say yes to gifting and sponsored posts that I know I will wear / use multiple times and in the immediate future. I often encourage opting for secondhand and vintage items when shopping for new clothing or accessories. I also share the small ways I try to support sustainability in my everyday life, whether it’s showing my reusable water bottles and grocery totes, how I compost, or sharing plastic-free and/or refillable products.

Q:What is one thing anyone can do to be more eco-friendly?

A: Be mindful of consumption! Before making a purchase, take a step back and ask yourself if you *really* need it and if you think it will get a lot of use. And if you do, see if there are secondhand or vintage options to buy instead of a brand new item. Whether it’s furniture, clothing, shoes, or books, there are so many resources to buy secondhand.

Q: What are your top picks? (Brands or products across beauty, fashion, home, etc.)

A: For home: By Humankind is a clean personal care brand that reduces single-use products by offering refillable ones.

Public Goods is a great source as they source biodegradable alternatives for plastic bottles.

Package-Free Shop is another go-to of mine for sea sponges, reusable panty liners, and bars of soap.

For clothing: Depop and The Real Real are my absolute go-to sites for beautiful secondhand clothing and accessories.

For beauty: La Bouche Rouge creates gorgeous and timeless clean refillable beauty products.

Q:How can other influencers use their platforms to drive awareness for sustainable practices, clean brands and products, and an eco-friendly lifestyle?

Sharing the ways they support sustainable practices, no matter how small! I’ve learned so much from the little tips I’ve picked up on Instagram from a variety of people. Also, amplifying those who are experts in the space and really living a sustainable lifestyle. I love to follow @ajabarber, @jennyong, and @futureearth as I learn so much from them.
