Money Monday: What to Do After You Reach $100, and the Power of Linking to Similar Items

Monday blues got you down? Us too, so we wanted to try something new. Every Monday, we’ll be giving you tips to better monetize your blog and elevate your ShopStyle Collective experience– that’s a new way to look at Monday, #amirite? You’ll see everything from strategic moneymaking tips, to interviews with top-earning bloggers on how they best monetize, to pointers on how to make your content more shoppable. 

Today on Money Monday, we’re discussing what to do once you reach your $100 cash-out, as well as sharing a special top-earner tip below!

So you’ve finally made it to $100 on ShopStyle Collective, congrats! What now? A few days after you cross the $100 threshold, you’ll see a new section in your account profile called PayPal Information.

  • Head to your Account Setting page, and fill in the PayPal Information and Tax Information sections– at the bottom of the page. (Not in the US? You don’t need to fill out tax information, but make sure to report your earnings at the end of the year.)
  • Fill out the PayPal Information and Tax Information before the end of the month.
  • Payment will be deposited in your PayPal account on the 20th of the following month after you’ve reached the $100 payout threshold. For example, if you reached the $100 payout threshold in June, you’ll receive your earnings on July 20.

And now for our Money Monday tip! Blogging about an outfit that is sold out or from a previous season? You can still monetize that look! Create affiliate links or a widget around similar-looking items. Whenever I blog about a cute dress that is no longer available online, I’ll do a roundup of dresses from the same brand that look similar to the dress I’m wearing in the post. It gives my readers options if they are shopping my post, and it always equals more clicks!

  • Click on Search at the top and type in descriptive terms that relate to the item you are looking to blog about, like “Little Black Dress”, or “Tuxedo Blazer.”
  • Creating a widget? Click on your desired item and “Add to Widget.”
  • Creating a text link? Hover over desired item and “Copy Link.”

4 Blogger Events You Need to Know About This Week!

This Summer, it’s all about the action-packed agenda for bloggers on the go. I’ve outlined four big events you need to know about that are happening in the blogger world this week. Make this week’s trending events relevant to your readers with these story ideas, even if you are staying close to home. As the weather starts to warm up, create collage posts on your dream outfits to these events (think WWCW– what would Chiara wear?), and use these ideas as a springboard for your blog this week!

  • Alt Summit, June 9-12: This premier business conference for all bloggers and creatives in the space is happening right now and goes through the 12. How about you put together a blog post featuring all the gorgeous sundresses and easy layers you would wear if you were basking in Salt Lake City? Let your readers live vicariously through you as you give them a little lesson in sundressing to impress while learning the tricks of the trade in the blogging industry! 
  • Bonnaroo, June 11-14: This is the music and arts festival that fashion people actually freak out over– all the way out in Tennessee! Think Coachella, or Governors Ball but better! Currently, festival style is all the rage, so give your readers a peek at your top festival-fashion picks. Think fringe, suede, wellies, and fedoras. Festival style is so easy to attain at every price point too, so provide your audience a plethora to choose from in your style story! 
  • Firenze4Ever, June 13-15: This coveted invite to peruse Florence, Italy with the chicest of bloggers only goes to a coveted few, but it’s oh so nice to follow the action via Snapchat or Instagram, no? Rumi, Jules, or Natalie will bring their A game. Make sure you drum up an aspirational blog post, giving your readers an editorial-like post surrounding this fab event. Let the FOMO ensue. 
  • London Collections Men, June 12-15: Fashion Week already? It’s true. But the boys get their own week this time around. I’m obsessed with wearing cheeky ties, suspenders, and all those fabulous menswear goodies that we don’t wear too often! How about doing a roundup of great menswear styles and adding links to accompanying accessories every menswear-loving blogger needs?

So many great events to look forward to, right?! I’m sure your Snapchat feeds will incite a major case of wanderlust this coming week. What event are you most excited to attend or observe?
