You’ll never guess what’s happening? After last week’s epic Nordstrom sale, we just got word that Shopbop is following suit and hosting a sale of their own!

On both the Shopbop and East Dane sites, you and your readers will score up to 25% off all purchases. The more you shop, the larger your discount becomes. Use code: GOBIG17 to qualify for:

  • 15% Off Orders of $200+
  • 20% Off Orders of $500+
  • 25% Off Orders of $800+

Shopbop sales are always are huge revenue drivers for the blogging community, so this is a great opportunity for you to end your February revenue on a high note. Check out these best practice tips on how to blog smarter during sale season. Below are some of our favorite tips from this list, but read the full article here to stay on top of your blogging game:

  1. Have a catchy and informative title for your post. Be sure to include keywords, such as “sale,” “deals,” “x% off,” or “Spring buys” or mention a sale code in your headline.
  2. Add timeliness to your title or blog post. In your title, include the time frame for the sale, such as “weekend deals,” “Spring buys,” or “today only.” You can also include this in photo captions. For example: “For Love & Lemons dress (on sale at Shopbop only this week).”
  3. Go for visual pow. Don’t forget to add visually appealing and dynamic photos, not just product photos from the retailer, but also yourself from different angles and in various styles. Or try composing collages in Photoshop or Dress.li! Check out our guide from the ShopStyle design team on how to create an engaging product collage.

How the Collective Community Feels about Newsletters . . .

December 9, 2016 | Tips & Best Practices

With the rise of social media and a slew of new and creative ways to market yourself and your brand, now is the time to hop on the social bandwagon and build your empire. But we don’t all blog full-time and may not have the resources to help, so it’s important to focus on a few things to really make an impression. Time to focus on high-level things like why you should or shouldn’t create a newsletter and the motivation behind doing so.

It’s still very much a new concept for a lot of bloggers with minimal resources, but a good chunk of bloggers are incorporating this extra step into their blog regimen. I reached out to the entire community to get their take on newsletters. Read on to get the facts from other Collective bloggers like yourself.

We Do It All For the Cookies- Your Strategy to Drop Cookies this Holiday Season!

October 28, 2016 | Tips & Best Practices

screen-shot-2016-10-28-at-12-37-05

One of the most important strategies for the holiday season involves strategically using cookies. Unfortunately, I don’t mean the freshly baked oatmeal chocolate chip cookies you strategically make for your best friend when you want her to do something for you. I mean cookies of the digital variety, the ones that no one actually sees but everyone relies on.

What is a (digital) cookie anyway?

Cookies are used by websites to store information and track a user’s actions. So, for example, when your readers click on an affiliate link, they are “cookied” and that cookie includes tracking data from your affiliate account as a referral partner, retailer information, the date of the click, and product information.

Cookies are also how retailers keep your shopping cart full (even after leaving the retailer’s site), how Facebook knows who you are so you don’t have to keep logging in between meetings, and how retargeting ads repeatedly show you those shoes you were eyeing earlier this week (they always get me).
