Nordstrom Anniversary Pregame-Sale Strategy

July 11, 2017 | Tips & Best Practices

Hey there, it’s the most wonderful time of the year, again . . . the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts very, very soon and Early Access begins in just two days. This isn’t just any sale — this sale brings brand new Fall merchandise and marks it down significantly, and that is why bloggers and blog readers love this sale so much! It’s one of the highest grossing months of the year if you are strategic about your approach. Are you ready? If you haven’t started already, you need to begin crafting your content, head to the Nordstrom site and see what pieces are available for sale and start thinking about the buckets of content you want to produce.

Details you need to think about in your pregame-strategy:

Dates:

  • Early Access: starts Thursday July 13th
  • Access to the general public begins Friday July 21st
  • NSale is over Sunday August 6th

Get your followers to think about Early Access:

  • Being a Nordstrom Card holder allows you early access into the sale from July 13-20
  • They will get first pick of all items on sale before the general public
  • The more you share your early access picks with your blog readers the more they will want these items

How to share with your readers?

  • The NSale isn’t something you want to just share once, in order to fully monetize your content around it you need to share as much and as smartly as possible
  • If you know who your audience is, make sure to cater your content towards what they like
  • Focus on various content buckets to share from the NSale:
    • Pieces under $200
    • Pieces under $100
    • Women Fall style
    • Men Fall style

Pro-Tips:

  • The more often you share the sale, the better you will do in your revenue earnings
  • Start dropping those cookies now! Even if the sale doesn’t start for two more days now’s the time to link to Nordstrom items ASAP
  • Blog about the Nordstrom Sale at least twice a week during this time
  • Don’t forget about your social strategy. Share on IG stories, Twitter, FB, Pinterest, etc.
  • If you have access to “Swipe-Up” on IG, use it on NSale items at least 4 times a week

This is a good place to start on getting ready for the sale. Let us know in the comments if you have any specific questions we can help with.

Ready, Set, Blog!

Carlina

Love the idea, but for bloggers based in other countries (New Zealand) what would you suggest to leverage this event? Whilst Nordstorm do deliver here, they aren’t well known and so it could be seen to be not relevant for local readers.

Also we’re going into spring, so fall clothing sales again aren’t relevant for Southern Hemisphere buyers.

      Hey Trish!

Great question. Although Nordstrom is popular in the United States, I would suggest using Nordstrom’s Sale as an incentive to spread awareness to your followers. It would be interesting to see you have a spin on “My Favorite American Brands” and then using Nordstrom as an example while still utilizing their massive Designer Sale. Maybe Nordstrom’s is something your followers have never heard about but would grow to love once you’ve posted about it! Also, you can totally use their sale selection for spring. Nordstrom is releasing some great fall transition pieces so it’s not all just fluffy, bulky coats — and you can feature makeup items too! I hope that helps answer your question 🙂

    Hi,
    Thanks for these tips!

Do you know if we have access to an affiliate link to the home page for the Nordstrom sale? Or does it have to be a specific item?
Also, do you have suggestions where I can find high quality logos for the sale to add to my blog? The ones I’m finding online are pixilated when I add them. Thank you in advance!

      Hi Kellie!

You can totally do both. To best optimize your strategy, I would use an affiliate link to the Nordstrom homepage, so whenever your follower clicks on it, they are brought to the homepage to shop around whereas if you’re only linking a specific item, they’re bound to that one item. I would suggest using an affiliate link to the homepage and adding a widget to specific items, maybe making something like featuring your favorites from the sale. As for the logo, I’ll reach out to you and email you one. Good luck and shop on!

I’m having a hard time finding the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale items on Shopstyle Collective to use as widgets for a blog post on the NSale. Am I doing something wrong?

      Hi Kaylee!
No, you’re not! They’re most likely not available on the website yet since it’s an in-store event at the moment. The Anniversary Sale is open to the general public on July 21st which means the items would be available then but don’t let that stop you from posting about it!
