Money Monday: How to Create Clickable Blog Images

June 22, 2015 | Money Monday, Tips & Best Practices

I’ll fill you in on a little secret that most bloggers aren’t aware of . . . when you make your blog images clickable to an affiliate link, you are more likely to earn 20%-25% more! It’s an easy way to monetize your blog. Readers love clicking on images, so take this opportunity to direct them to the products they love. I’ve put together a little tutorial on how to make clickable images on both Blogger and WordPress, and I’ve salso included a Best Practices guide to monetize your clickable links. Follow the directions below and start linking . . .

Blogger:

  1. Draft your blog post.
  2. Open a new tab and log in to your ShopStyle Collective account.
  3. Search for the item associated with your blog image, like a “Black Bucket Bag,” then “Copy Link.”
  4. In your Blogger draft, click the image you want to link.
  5. Click on “Link” and paste the affiliate link in the “To what URL should this link go?” text box.
  6. Done! Now when your readers click on your photo, they will be taken to your affiliate link, and you’ll make extra money!

WordPress:

  1. Draft your blog post.
  2. Open a new tab and log in to your ShopStyle Collective account.
  3. Search for the item associated with your blog image, like a “Black Bucket Bag,” then “Copy Link.”
  4. In your WordPress draft, click the image you want to link.
  5. Click on the Insert/edit link” button and paste the affiliate link in the URL text box that pops up.
  6. Click on “Add Link.”
  7. Done! Now when your readers click on your photo, they will be taken to your affiliate link, and you’ll earn extra money!

Best Practices Guide to Monetize Your Clickable Links:

  • Link your close-up product images where the focus is on one strong item within the image.
  • You can also link a full-outfit image if there is one main item, like a dress.

Blogger Spotlight: Sunnie Brook

June 19, 2015 | Blogger Feature, Blogger Spotlight

Happy Friday, ShopStyle Collective! You are a very special and exclusive community, so we are always striving to help support you as a brand! We started doing Blogger Spotlights to showcase our unique members and highlight them and thier blogs so you can learn a little bit more about them as fellow bloggers. Today I’d love to introduce you to Sunnie-Brook, celebrity hairdresser and fabulous beauty blogger all around . . .

Tell us a little bit about yourself. I’m a Celebrity Hairdresser + Beauty Blogger.

When did you start blogging. Four years ago.

What made you want to start a blog? I’ve been a hairdresser for 17 years and have always been passionate about being creative and helping people. My blog came out of a desire to continue to help my clients with their beauty needs in their daily lives.

Any favorite bloggers who inspire you? Emily Weiss from Into the Gloss, Violet Grey, and Byrdie Beauty.

What is the one thing you never leave the house without?
My smile 🙂 and my phone!

As a beauty enthusiast, is there an item of makeup you won’t leave home without?
My Dior Addict Lip Glow.

Any blogging tips for beginners?
Explore and then define what your vision is for your blog. Is it a business or a hobby? Then find the key people to partner with to develop and implement your vision.

What is your dream job? Dream collaboration?
I feel like I’m doing my dream job! I’d love to do more travel blogging, though, as it’s a passion of mine! I would love to collaborate with Chloé as it’s one of my favorite brands.

What is your favorite clothing brand to wear?
Reformation and Zara are staples in my wardrobe.

What is your favorite beauty brand to wear? Any secret brands we need to know about that aren’t supermainstream yet?
I use Head & Shoulders and Reverie Milk every day on my hair. Reverie is newish and has a lot of integrity as a brand, and Vintner’s Daughter is my go-to serum for my skin.

What is the one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I sing and play guitar.

Flats or heels?
Flats by day. Heels by night 🙂

Favorite social media outlet?
It was Instagram, but I’m having so much fun on Snapchat because it deletes, so I don’t have to think about it as much.

Twitter/Instagram/Snapchat handles so we can follow along on the fun?
@sunniebrook for both Twitter and Instagram. @SunniebrookJ for Snapchat!

Thanks Sunnie Brook, that was great! Want to be featured next? Shoot me an email with a link to your blog at charris@popsugar.com!

Have a great weekend,
Carlina

Blogger Happenings & Sales this Week!

June 19, 2015 | Sales to Talk About

Hey ShopStyle Collective Community! It’s Friday (woohoo!). Last week we started a new series where we gave you a rundown on blogger happenings you NEEDED to know about– so you could create content surrounding them and inform your readers of trends influenced by these events. With the Summer season starting in just a few days, the events are in full effect. Check out this week’s lineup and a special sale just for you!

—Glastonbury, (June 24-28): The place where Kate Moss made wellies fabulous and made every woman on earth want to wear them with cutoff shorts, an sheer sparkly top, and a belt casually slung just so. This Coachella of the UK is back for three whole days! Think about all those fab off-the-shoulder tops and dresses you can blog about . . . everyone and their mom is obsessed with this trend.

–Milan (June 20-23rd) and Paris Men’s Fashion Week (June 24-28): Fresh off from London and hopping over to Milan then Paris for the week, the boys are bringing the haberdashery to town and are on the lookout for paparazzi to grab their best side. Feature these events on your blog by chatting up your favorite looks strutted so far and link to appropriate products.

—Southern Bloggers Society Conference (June 27): The belle of the blogger conference blog, quite literally. Our very own account manager, Natalie Willis, is speaking at this, so if you are around, please say hello. I already got the skinny on her outfit, and it’s going to be good! Speaking of good outfits, there will be plenty at this little fete. Keep your eyes peeled on Instagram, and maybe do a roundup of your favorite fab ladies.

–Father’s Day (June 21): It’s Dad’s day this weekend; are you ready for it? I bet your readers could use a reminder and maybe even a good old roundup of what Dad has his eye on . . . goodbye, silk tie, hello, Apple Watch.

Retailers we are Loving this month!

June 17, 2015 | Retailer & Brand Updates

At ShopStyle Collective, we make every effort to provide the widest selection of supported stores, retailers, and brands you love– and want to share with your readers. This month, we are hilighting three retailers we are loving.

Alice + Olivia: This brand designed by Stacry Bendet is as flawless as the designer herself; think gauzy chiffon maxis, regal tribal coats, and a pair of printed palazzo pants that I haven’t stopped dreaming about. If you follow the designer on Instagram, you’ll see her flair does not stop at the drawing board.

Revolve: This megabrand retailer started out in 2003 and has since amassed over 500 brands and loads of fans within the blogging community. From affordable on-trend pieces to cocktail frocks, this retailer gives you a ton of chic choices. I for one am currently obsessed with its wedding shop— hello, two-peice bridal gown!

DVF: The queen of the wrap dress has gone mainstream; her recent TV show has reinvigorated a desire to dress like a lady in the most flattering of silhouettes. Her signature wrap dress is splashed all over the website in various lengths, textures, and shades, but other standouts include her use of color, her flattering jumpsuits, and the fringe clutch that every blogger wants.
